Mosquito bites impose a considerable health risk, with mosquito-borne diseases triggering millions of deaths yearly worldwide. Malaria, one of the most popular known diseases linked to mosquitos, killed about 438,000 people globally in 2015.

Signs of a mosquito bite appear shortly after being bitten. It includes a round, red bump with a dot in the middle that often accompanies an itching sensation. Other symptoms of a mosquito bite are dark spots that resemble bruising, swelling or redness, and small blisters in place of hard bumps.

According to Medical News Today, the chance of having a critical disease is the most dangerous result of a mosquito bite. There are many harmful infections that mosquitoes can carry and spread which include:

1. Malaria: Parasites trigger this life-threatening disease by infecting and killing red blood cells. To regulate and cure malaria, early diagnosis is important.

2. West Nile virus: Many people with West Nile virus develop no signs, although some experience a fever or other flu-like symptoms. For a few people having the virus, a severe sickness develops in the nervous system.

3. Zika virus: This is a generally mild situation that induces fever, joint pain, and rash initially. The first signs of Zika often pass after one week, but the disease can result in congenital anomalies if a woman becomes pregnant after getting a mosquito bite.

4. Yellow fever: This infection trigger inflammation in the brain and spinal cord. Its signs include fever and sore throat.

5. Dengue fever: This disease can cause high fever, rash, muscle soreness, and joint pain. In the most extreme instances, critical bleeding, shock, and death may happen. Dengue fever is majorly active in tropical and sub-tropical regions.

6. Chikungunya: Joint pain, headache, rash, and fever are popular signs of chikungunya disease. People with the disease need bed rest and fluids to heal.
