When you consume an excess amount of water, you may experience water poisoning, intoxication, or an interruption of brain function. This occurs when there’s excess water in the cells (including brain cells), making them swell.
According to “WebMD”, some of the things that happen to your body or signs that show you’re consuming excess water include.
1. Discoloration of the hands, feet, and lips
When you’re drinking too much water, you will begin to experience swelling or discoloration in your feet, hands, and lips. When the cells swell, the skin swells as well.
2. The color of your urine
One major way to know if your intake of water is high is to monitor the color of your urine. It usually ranges from pale yellow to tea-colored as a result of the combination of the pigment urochrome and the water level in your body. If the urine is often clear, that’s a sure indication you’re consuming too much water in a short span.
3. Nausea or vomiting
The sign of excess water intake can look like those of dehydration. When the water in your body is excess, the kidneys can’t eliminate the excess liquid. It begins to collect in the body, causing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
4. Tiredness or fatigue
Intake of excess water makes your kidneys function too hard to eliminate the excess amount. This makes a hormone reaction that causes stress feeling and tiredness.
If you can’t get out of bed after consuming excess water, it’s because your kidneys are working too hard.
5. Throbbing headaches all through the day
Headaches can be an indication of both hydration and dehydration. Too much water in the body makes the body’s level of salt reduction and the cells swell.
This swelling makes them grow in size and those in the brain press against the skull. This pressure leads to a throbbing headache and may cause brain impairment and difficulty breathing.
Ensure your intake of water is moderate.
