Tinubu could, unequivocally, be considered as a household name whose passion for nursing brilliant minds and guiding them, excellently, through a successful political tour can hardly be compared to others, in as much as Nigerian political environment is concerned, today. For the same reason, on daily basis, he attracts envies, malices, love and profound hatred to himself from, surely, his political competitors who are onlookers to his political status.
Today, we will be looking at some of the political progenies of Tinubu who have all transcended from local political status, where he might have sighted them, to the noble level of becoming national assets.
1. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Noticeably, his first public display was when he became the Attorney General of Lagos and Commissioner for Justice under the stewardship of his political boss, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was the Executive Governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.
Prof. Osinbajo was part of the team that constituted a legal counsel against the, illegal, embargo placed on Lagos State allocation by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.
When the need to select a befitting presidential running mate to Muhammadu Buhari arose, ahead of the 2015 general elections, Bola Tinubu magnanimously handed over Yemi Osinbajo to the nation. Till today, Professor Osinbajo is the number two citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
2. Abdulrauf Adesoji Aregbesola.
Ogbeni Abdulrauf Adesoji Aregbesola is another product of Tinubu’s school of politics and politicking.
He was the Commissioner for Works in Lagos State under the leadership of Tinubu as the Executive Governor of the state.
Aregbesola was, later, guided by the political leadership of Tinubu to contest the 2007 Governorship Elections of Osun State. Tinubu’s support, through deployment of diplomatic and political logics, could not be overemphasized toward the legal battle that led to the reclamation of Aregbesola’s mandate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, Prince Olagunsoye Ishola Oyinlola, in 2010.
Consequently, Aregbesola triumphed at Supreme Court and completed his two terms. Today, he is the Minister of Interior, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
3. Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Tinubu’s love for intelligent individuals may, quietly, be considered as one of his greatest assets. He handed over Lagos State to another brilliant follower of his political ideology, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Fashola is a cerebral lawyer under whose reign Lagos was totally transformed to the main economic giant in West Africa.
The story of Lagos may not be completed until Fashola’s name is referenced.
Fashola, today, has nationalized his ingenuity following the level of works he is doing at the Ministry of Works as the Honorable Minister.
4. Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola.
The former Osun State Chief of staff and Incumbent Governor of the State, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, may convincingly be described as a man of destiny. He became Governor of Osun State when majority of the political analysts may have belittled his opportunities.
However, for the political sagacity of his leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola has been catapulted to the apex level of political leadership in Osun State.
Against all odds, with the levels of his performance as the Executive Governor of Osun State, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, has proven to be one of the products of the Tinubu’s School of Thought who has studied the leadership styles of his boss, Tinubu, character by character.
5. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
When there seemed to be no road, Tinubu may have appeared to Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the one who was sent by the Lord to pave way, where none has ever existed.
Few years before 2019, tell him he would become Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu may never consider to put on a wonderful smiling face except if he remembers that God sends destiny helper, whenever it is time.
Many opinion moulders, still, prefer to say that “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu single-handedly picked Sanwo-Olu and walked his way to the Alausa Government House.”
Today, Sanwo-Olu is convincing more people to appraise the decision of Tinubu to uplift his political status from where he was, then, to where he is, today.
