According to Healthline, our adaptive immune system is called into service when the defensive system of our innate immunity is breached well beyond the capability of its response....CONTINUE READING THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

Regardless of our innate immune system, some germs, substances, chemicals, and toxins can still beat all our innate immunity and get inside our bodies. Your body will fight against such diseases and infections in the following ways:

1. After your innate immunity has been beaten hands down, your adaptive immunity will be called into function. Your body will do this to checkmate that infection that has beaten your adaptive immune system.

When your innate immunity is penetrated by germs, then the adaptive immune system will take over the work from there. Whenever an invader bypasses your innate immunity, your adaptive immunity mobilizes to apprehend it.

2. Your adaptive immune system identifies an invading microorganism or substance as being foreign to the proteins in your body.

The response of the adaptive immune system can be either humoral or cellular, depending on the type of invader.

When it is a cellular response from adaptive immunity, it is mainly in response to viruses and parasites that hide inside the cells.

There are certain germs that, when they have beaten your innate immunity, get inside and enter the cells of your body to infect them.

That one, your adaptive immune system will respond to it at a cellular level by producing certain antibodies to deal with it.

3. But if it is humoral, it does not go into the cells but functions within intercellular fluids, which are fluids existing between cells.

That’s where such antigens function, and then your humoral response deals with that. If the response is humoral, the adaptive immunity deals with an infection arising in the intercellular body fluids.

This type of response is primarily a response to bacteria. Humoral immunity involves the production of antibodies.

These are not cells but special proteins whose chemical structures are formed to match the surfaces of specific antigens.

4. When an antigen invades your body, your adaptive immune system will take a photograph of that antigen for future recognition and store it in its memory.

This is done so that whenever that thing comes again, it can easily recognize it and go to its arsenal to produce an antibody that can detonate that antigen and destroy it.
