Four jersey numbers available for Antony at Manchester United....CONTINUE READING

The transfer of Brazilian winger Antony to Manchester United from Dutch club AFC Ajax is almost complete. The Brazilian has agreed to a five-year contract with a one-year extension option for a €100 million deal, claims transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 22-year-old will become one of the most expensive players in the Premier League and a record signing for Manchester United thanks to the agreement.

He will follow Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and Casemiro as the Red Devils’ sixth summer acquisition.

Four potential jersey numbers for the Brazilian when he officially joins the Red Devils will be examined in this article:

No. 21

One possible jersey number for Antony at Manchester United is 21. Edinson Cavani last wore this number, however, it is now vacant as a result of his departure from the team as a free agent this summer.

Although 21 is not seen as a natural number for a winger, it carries a slight aura of aggression. Daniel James, another Red Devil who played on the wings, wore it before Cavani.

Additionally, it resembles the jersey number 20 that he is now wearing for the Brazilian national team.

No. 11

The number 11 is an additional potential jersey for Antony.

Technically, jersey number 11 is not available. Mason Greenwood, an English winger, is now in possession of it.

Greenwood hasn’t, however, played for United since the revelation of his sexual assault controversy late last season.

The 20-year-old name was removed from the club’s roster for the 2022–23 season since he has not yet responded to the accusations leveled against him.

No. 7

Throughout the 2018–19 season, Antony wore No. 7 in Sao Paulo.

If Cristiano Ronaldo departs the team this month, Antony might replace him as the No. 7. The future of the Portuguese footballing sensation, who wants to leave Old Trafford to play in the Champions League, is still up in the air.

No. 15

Nemanja Vidic, who together with Rio Ferdinand established a renowned defensive pairing at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, gave the number its notoriety. Jesper Blomqvist, a player on the treble-winning team in 1998/99, also wore the number.
