According to Healthline, if it’s not properly managed, it can cause cardiovascular illness such as heart attack or stroke.
The following are important facts about hypertension that you need to know:
1. Blood pressure is measured with two figures: the upper one and the lower one.
The upper one is called the systolic pressure, and the lower one is called the diastolic pressure.
This is why somebody may have a blood pressure of 110 over 70, for instance, or 120 over 80. The 120 is systolic and the 80 is diastolic.
If somebody has a systolic pressure that is abnormally elevated and normal diastolic pressure, usually the root cause of that kind of hypertension is psychological or emotional.
It is either the person has just lost a loved one, lost their job, business, money, or a very negative experience that can cause a disturbance or affect the person psychologically and emotionally.
This can make their blood pressure rise, and usually, it is the upper one that rises more. The lower one will just rise a little.
3. If both are elevated, then it’s either that it’s a combination of biological and psychological or there’s a systemic disease that is precipitating this.
4. To avoid high blood pressure, you may also have to work on your stress and your emotional life apart from your diet.
You may just change your diet and find out that your blood pressure is not dropping significantly, and you are wondering why not.
It’s not just your diet; the state of your mind also matters, so you have to forget about your worries and let there be peace in your mind.
