There has been a common believe over the years that all fruits are best for people with Diabetes because they are natural sugar, this is false. Even natural sugars cause damage to health when taken at the wrong time.

There are certain fruits which a person with diabetes should totally avoid because of his or her conditions, these fruits include.

1. Watermelon

 

Watermelon is a common fruits that is sold in almost every part of Nigeria. It is well known for its great taste and serves as a perfect snack for anyone who wants to enjoy it except for people to with diabetes.

Studies show that diabetic patients should try as much as possible to avoid this fruits, this is because of the glycemic index of watermelon which is around 70 – 100.

2. Pineapples

 

Pineapples is another fruit that is commonly eaten by a lot of people around the world. It also serves as a perfect snack just like watermelon. But it is not good for people with diabetes. It might be lower in sugar than watermelon but it’s glycemic index is also very high.

3. Dried dates

Dried dates is another that looks more like almond but higher in sugar. There are many reasons why you should avoid this fruit, one of which include the fact that it is high in glycemic index.

4. Overly ripe bananas

Bananas might not be totally bad for the body but it could be dangerous when it is overly ripe one. This is because the glycemic index is around 70 and above.
