Lionel Messi left Barcelona as a free agent in 2021 due to financial crisis at the Club. After 2 years away from the Club, Barcelona are reportedly trying to bring the Player back to his ‘home’.
However in my opinion, this is not a good idea and here are three reasons why:
1.Barcelona’s increase in Wage:
Barcelona are currently struggling financially due to the amount of wage. Bringing Lionel Messi will definitely increase the wage once again and this might lead the Club into more debt. Lionel Messi currently receives more than $700,000 weekly at PSG and this will be difficult for Barcelona to pay.
2.New Project:
Barcelona are building a new project given that there are a lot of new players at the Club. The Club has a lot of young Players that are part of the new project. With Lionel Messi back at Barcelona, it would mean that some key young Players may have to sit at the bench.
3.Over dependence on Messi:
If Messi returns to Barcelona, the Players will obviously depend on him for everything. The Club will depend on him for goals and creating chances which might make some other Players lazy. Lionel Messi is known for ‘carrying’ teams but if this continues, then most Players in the squad might become lazy because they want Messi to do everything.
Lionel Messi coming back will definitely be a great addition to Barcelona’s squad but this could also have some disadvantages as well.
