Chelsea are on the verge of signing Raheem Sterling for £45million (plus £10m in add-ons) from Manchester City. The 27-year-old has agreed on personal terms with the Blues that will see him become the highest-paid player at Chelsea....CONTINUE READING THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

The English winger is expected to become Chelsea’s first signing under the Todd Boehly era. With Sterling’s transfer imminent, perhaps it is time for Chelsea to prioritize other pending deals.

Hopefully, with the arrival of Sterling, Chelsea can benefit from his rich Premier League experience. This should take them one step closer to closing the gap between them and the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

But to achieve this, signing Sterling will not be enough. There are other deals The Blues need to complete to help them achieve their objectives next season. Here are four deals Chelsea need to complete after Raheem Sterling’s transfer is done.

1. Signing Raphinha

Raphinha has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. Leeds United have reportedly accepted Chelsea’s £55 million offer for the Brazilian.

And while a deal is close, it’s not yet completed. Barcelona are still very interested in signing the player and are looking to battle Chelsea for his signature.

Chelsea should go all out to complete a deal for Raphinha as soon as possible. The Brazilian will bring more firepower to Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Chelsea need to sign more attacking reinforcements and Raphinha would be a good choice. Although the winger prefers a move to Barcelona, Chelsea could take advantage of Barça’s tough financial situation to land his signature.

2. Signing Matthijs de Ligt

Chelsea are in desperate need of two new central defenders and Matthijs de Ligt has been identified as the club’s main target for that certain position this summer.

They would, however, have to fight off competition from Bayern Munich, who are also interested in signing the player. The Blues are still negotiating with Juventus over a potential deal, but no official offers have been made.

Chelsea need to complete a deal for De Ligt because, with the departures of Rudiger and Christensen, Chelsea have a huge hole to fill in their defence.

De Ligt fits the profile of a good Chelsea defender. He is strong, smart, and would fit in well with Tuchel’s tactics. De Ligt is eager to leave Juventus, however, reports suggest that Bayern Munich is his preferred option.

3. Nathan Ake

Another central defender wanted by Tuchel is Manchester City’s Nathan Ake. Chelsea are prepared to bid £30m for the Dutchman, but that is way below Manchester City’s asking price.

Man City are holding out for £50 million, plus they want to find a replacement first before agreeing to sell the defender. Hopefully, The Blues can reach an agreement with Man City soon. Chelsea need to sign Ake as they need defensive reinforcements.
