According to the Evening Standard, the 24-year-old wants to be a starter at Stamford Bridge, a fat which currently looks unlikely for him.

Many will have expected last season to be the final one at Stamford Bridge for Chalobah, even though he will feel that he personally impressed whenever he was called upon.

The 23-year-old was one of Graham Potter’s favourite players at the club, and he played a lot of games while Wesley Fofana was struggling with injuries.

Towards the end of the season, he was required to play on the right of defence as Reece James saw the end of the campaign come early due to injuries.

His chances of a starting role may have been handed a slight boost following the sale of Kalidou Koulibaly, who has secured his own move to Saudi Arabia.

Chalobah wants to be a starter

It was a difficult campaign for the Senegal international after his long-awaited move to the Premier League, and an exit for decent money was perhaps best for all parties.

However, these opportunities will be affected if Levi Colwill remains at the club following his recent loan spell with Brighton.

The Seagulls are keen to bring him in on a permanent basis, and are even willing to break their transfer record in order to make it happen.

However, they are being met by resistance from Stamford Bridge, and reports have stated that this is off the back of new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The new manager is reportedly really keen to see the youngster in action, and therefore it will be even more tough for Chalobah to get a look in should Colwill remain in West London.
