He argued that being forthright as a leader rubs certain people the wrong way, prompting them to plot ways to remove him from power.
The second in command, however, maintained that he will continue being truthful, regardless of whether his opponents backed him.
“Mimi zile shida zote mnaona napitia ni kwa sababu ya kusema ukweli and I did not know that many people have a problem with the truth kwa sababu kuna watu wengi sana wako na shida ya kusema ukweli, sasa mimi niliumbwa hivo, Mungu amenifunza na kuniongoza kua nikisema ukweli na kwa hivyo katika harakati za uongozi sa ingine tukisimama na ukweli wengine hawapendi lakini tutaendelea tu kusimama na ukweli kwa sababu hio ndio Mungu anataka,” he said.
The DP also warned individuals plotting against his ouster saying pursuing the plan is subverting the will of the people.
He underscored that he was elected on a joint ticket with President William Ruto, adding that those against his position in power should consider the electorates’ input.
“Let us not fall into the temptation of overturning the will of the people through other methods because people will not be happy when you overturn their will,” the DP said.
“Let us agree that the tenets of democracy say that you respect the will of the people because it is sovereign.”
The DP also urged the church to pray for Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration. He explained that the ongoing political infighting will likely distract the regime from delivering its campaign promises.
