The Norwegian 24-Year-Old Star Erling Haaland
The top player on this list is the 24-year-old Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland. This young player is with Manchester City and plays for the Norwegian national team. There has been a lot of debate about whether he’s the best player in the world or not at the moment.
He finished runner-up on this year’s Ballon d’Or, but when looking at his achievements and scores, there’s really no other player that can match Haaland’s level.
In 2022/23, he was the top scorer in not only the Premier League but also the Champions League. He broke the record for most scored goals in a Premier League season.
He is truly a goal machine, and it often seems like nothing can really stop him. All these goals took his team to the top in the Premier League, F.A. Cup, Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup this year.
His own individual accomplishment makes for an even longer list. He is one of the best and most popular Norwegian athletes. Alongside other Norwegian top athletes, he’s made it very clear what the North has to offer.
The Argentine Legend Lionel Messi
Mentioned second on this list is the football legend Messi. He didn’t finish second at the Ballon d’Or, where he won the title of the world’s best footballer for the eighth time. This is an impressive record that makes very clear the impact that Messi has had on the global football scene.
One of the things that made it clear that he deserved the Ballon d’Or yet again was his national team, Argentina, victory at the World Cup.
He is currently playing at Inter Miami, where he has made impressive results in the MLS. They won the Leagues Cup and Ligue 1. When looking at Messi’s individual accomplishments, it’s hard to look at anything else than the shining Ballon d’Or 1st place.
The Young English Supertalent Jude Bellingham
One of the most impressive individual performances in 2023 is that of the young Jude Bellingham. It’s hard to imagine any young player arriving at a club like Real Madrid and outshining most of his teammates from day one like Jude Bellingham has done.
Before transferring to Real Madrid, he had made quite an impact at the German Borussia Dortmund. In the German League, he also achieved the title of Bundesliga Player of the Season.
He was also ranked as the best young player in the world. There’s no doubt that he’s going to be of incredible value for his new Spanish team, where he has already scored impressively in his first season.
The French Captain Kylian Mbappe
The French footballer Kylian Mbappe is known for many things. He’s an impressive player at everything from speed and dribbling to scoring goals. He is currently playing at the French club PSG, but his future at the club is quite uncertain, and the rumors are swirling.
He’s also the captain of the French national team. Even though it hasn’t been his most impressive season, he’s obviously still one of the best players in the world with meters.
Last season, he scored 41 goals in 43 matches. He came in 3rd at the Ballon d’Or and was the player of the season and top scorer at Ligue 1. It’s going to be interesting to see where Mbappe will go next and whether it’ll be this year he moves on to another top club.
The Experienced English Harry Kane
Another Englishman on this list is the more experienced Harry Kane. With a long career behind him, it’s hard to deny the level of this English player.
He’s not one of those players that have a long list of trophies but when it comes to goals, there are few players that can come close to his level. Currently, he’s at Bayern Munich, where he transferred at the summer transfer window.
He transferred from Tottenham, where he came in 2nd for the top-scorer title. When he transferred to Bayern, it seemed like he increased his level even further. It seems like this year is going to be an even more impressive year for this experienced player than 2023 was.
The Unstoppable Argentinian Lautaro Martinez
Another unstoppable Argentinan is the 26-year-old Lautaro Martinez. He has had an impressive season at Inter Milan and was, of course, a vital part of the Argentinian World Cup victory.
He scored an impressive 20 goals in 44 appearances for Inter Milan and Argentina. His impressive level contributed to Inter making it all the way to the Champions League final, where they came in 2nd.
Even though they lost the Champions League final, the team won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana. If 2024 turns out to be as impressive as 2023, there’s a lot to expect from the young player.
The French Comeback Kid Antoine Griezmann
Antoine Griezmann is back is the top after his transfer to Athletico Madrid. He had a couple of seasons at Barcelona that weren’t exactly impressive when looking at his former achievements.
In 2016 and 2018, he came in third for the Ballon d’Or, so there’s no doubt that he is one of the best players in the world. This season, he showed that he still belongs at the top of the list of the best footballers in the world.
He has scored an impressive 26 goals and made 16 assists in 2023, making him one of the best players in the Spanish La Liga, if not the best. It seems like this comeback kid has found a club where he can truly excel again, so the expectations for this season are high.
Going into the 2024 season
There is no doubt that the expectations are high for all these players going into the 2024 season. They are, of course, only a selection of the players at the top level on the global football scene.
