Just like every other country, Nigeria is not feeling comfortable leaving its citizens in any of the affected places. In this, the Nigerian Government has started making plans to evacuate its citizens from the affected places.

The Federal government of Nigeria on Thursday, announced that a special arrangement is being made to evacuate over 5000 Nigerian students and other Nigerians willing to be evacuated from Ukraine due to the war.

In the view to be sure nothing happens to Nigerians in the affected countries, the Federal Government of Nigeria, on Friday, summoned the Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Kirdoda Valerii, and his Russian counterpart, Alexei Shebarshin.

As reported by DAILY POST, Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the envoys separately behind closed doors in Abuja, to know the way out on how to evacuate Nigerians safely from the respective Countries.

After a closed-door meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Kirdoda Valerii, he told the Federal government of Nigeria that it is unsafe to evacuate anyone at the moment. He stated that the evacuation of Nigerians from the country at the moment is impossible as the airspace in Ukraine remains shut.

He, therefore, assured the Nigerian Government that as soon as it is safe to fly in the sky of Ukraine, they would arrange for the evacuation of Nigerian Students and other Nigerian citizens that are willing to leave.
