Real Madrid ran riot tonight, as they put five past the Celtic goalkeeper. Two from the spot kick, but Celtic got their consolation goal from Jota.
For the first time since 2015–16, when they went on to win the championship, Real Madrid has now won all three of its home group stage matches in a UEFA Champions League season.
Real Madrid also won its group for three consecutive years (2020-2021 to 2022-23), the first time this has happened since 2013-14 and 2015-16.
Celtic, on the other hand, has now lost all six of its UEFA Champions League contests against Spanish opposition, scoring just two goals to go along with 24 goals conceded.

Shakhtar was defeated by Leipzig 4-0 to move on to the round of 16. Leipzig led 1-0 at halftime thanks to Nkunku, who scored on the rebound after Werner’s attempt was stopped, despite the fact that the first half was closely contested.
