OFFICIAL: According to latest news from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, César Azpilicueta has signed a new contract with Chelsea, two year deal valid until June 2024. Thomas Tuchel and Todd Boehly met with Azpilicueta many times in order to keep the captain at the club.

It is worth noting that Azpilicueta has been linked with a move to Barcelona all summer. Report added that the Blaugrana even held talks with Chelsea about signing the veteran defender but these seem to have been unsuccessful.

Manchester United could be without forward Anthony Martial for their opening Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, August 7, according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell.

According to the aforementioned source, the French forward had picked up a hamstring injury prior to the start of the new season.
