Chelsea’s demands of £70m for Kai Havertz are proving to be a “stumbling block” for Arsenal, according to the Mirror. Arsenal are said to be advancing with negotiations for the Germany international, who has two years left on his deal.

The Gunners are reportedly only willing to pay £60m but Chelsea are sticking to their guns over the price – just as they are with Man Utd in talks about Mason Mount.

Kante completes Al Ittihad medicals

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has completed his Al Ittihad medical. The France international is set to sign for the Saudis after undergoing a two stage medical in London this week.

Kante’s Chelsea deal will expire at the end of the month, so leaving him free to sign for Al Ittihad in a Bosman transfer. An announcement to confirm Kante’s signing could arrive as early as today. Last season, the midfielder made just nine appearances for Chelsea due to hamstring surgery.

Rodgers set for Celtic return

Brendan Rodgers is set to return to Celtic almost four-and-a-half years on from his departure, Sky Sports News reports.

The Northern Irishman previously led the Bhoys to a “double treble” during his original spell, winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup in both of his full seasons in charge.

Rodgers, who was dismissed by Leicester earlier this year, will succeed Ange Postecoglou following the latter’s move to Tottenham.

Chelsea leave Man Utd with clear run at Onana

Manchester United are sudden favourites to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana. Chelsea had held several rounds of talks with Inter for the goalkeeper, but have now ended their interest, says the London Evening Standard.

The decision leaves United a clear run at Onana, who is available from Inter despite only joining in a Bosman transfer from Ajax a year ago.

United manager Erik ten Hag knows Onana well and could bring him to Old Trafford to succeed David de Gea. De Gea is yet to accept new terms as his current deal runs down this month.
