Arsenal have officially confirmed that they have completed the transfer of Harry Clarke to Stoke City on loan for the 2022/23 season. The 21-year-old defender, who also spent last season on loan in Scotland, will seek to further gain valuable experience next season as he is set for another loan spell away from the club.
He also spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Oldham Athletic. Clarke, who joined Arsenal in 2015, signed his first professional contract in July 2018. He then went on to become a key part of their under-23s side.
Man United handed Martinez transfer boost
According to Goal, Manchester United have been handed a transfer boost in their reported pursuit of Ajax defender, Lisandro Martinez. Goal reports that Arsenal, who were also interested in the defender, are now looking to “back away” from a potential deal.
Arsenal were previously tipped as the favourites to sign Martinez from Ajax. However, if these reports are to be believed, then Arsenal backing away means the door is open for Man United to step up their pursuit of the highly-rated 24-year-old.
Inter show concerns over Lukaku move
The Athletic report that Inter are now showing concerns over a potential move for Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku is expected to join Inter on loan this summer, and Chelsea are keen to push through the deal as soon as possible. However, according to The Athletic, the deal has been delayed because Inter president, Steven Zhang is having some concerns over the finances involved.
Chelsea reportedly want a loan fee of €10 million for Lukaku, and they want Inter to fully cover his wages as well. If these reports are to be believed, then Inter are not comfortable with these demands. Talks are still ongoing between the two clubs. It remains to be seen if a deal will materialize soon.
