According to the source, Sterling has agreed to a “little increase” on the £300,000 he was earning at Manchester City, making him our highest-paid player. That will put him on par with Romelu Lukaku, even though Inter Milan is paying Lukaku’s wages at least through the 2019-2020 season.

The transfer fee is expected to be in the range of £45-50 million, which is about the same as what Arsenal paid for Gabriel Jesus. Sterling is likely to join the team for the preseason tour of the United States, which gets underway this weekend if the deal can be finalised this week.
