The Spanish defender joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2012 and will now leave an evergreen legacy as the only player in the history of club to win every single major trophy with the club.
As player and captain, he will never be forgotten. His departure will definitely leave some very big boots to be filled. Chelsea will be looking for another captain who will usher them into the new era.

1. Thiago Silva
At 37, Thiago is the oldest and most experienced player of Chelsea. Despite his age, the Brazilian is still going strong and is a leader in the team.
He’s captained the team on several occasions already and it would make sense for him to take up the mantle full time as the senior captain of the team.
2. Reece James
Unlike Thiago, James is a young and academy product of the club. No one embodies what Chelsea is all about more than the young Englishman.
It is common knowledge that James has long dreamed of captaining Chelsea and this might just be the perfect opportunity for him. He could lead the team for the next 10 years.
3. Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa Arrizabalaga is another player that has displayed excellent leadership qualities in that Chelsea team.
There are many who consider him as a perfect candidate for the captaincy especially now that Pochettino has revealed that the Spaniard will be his number 1 goalkeeper next season.
4. Enzo Fernandez
After just 6 months at the club, Enzo Fernandez has shown himself as a player with the right mentality to lead Chelsea. The only shortcoming for the Argentine is the language barrier. His English is not very good so it makes it kind of hard to see him become captain.
What do you think? In my opinion, Silva should be club captain with Reece James and Kepa as the second and third assist captains respectively. This way, when Thiago leaves, James can finally take up the armband full time.
