Reece James might be out until the World Cup, the Guardian reports......READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>>
While it’s still unclear how long he will miss, he is expected to be out for the games against United, Brighton and Salzburg, at the very least.
The 22-year-old has undoubtedly been Chelsea’s best player this player so losing him is a big blow.
How can Graham Potter replace James? If the gaffer sticks to the 3-4-3 formation, we have as many as three options to suggest.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Thomas Tuchel has experimented with playing Loftus-Cheek at right wing-back. Rubens has had a few excellent shifts in this position (the Spurs game immediately springs to mind) so he can be a decent cover while Reece is out.
Since Loftus-Cheek is a midfielder, he would be expected to make defensive mistakes. Trev Chalobah, our first-choice right centre-back in the absence of Wesley Fofana, must be extra careful and cover for RLC.
Cesar Azpilicueta
Cesar Azpilicueta is the only natural right-back in the squad bar James so playing him there would make sense.
The captain has been shaky this season but his performance against Wolves was promising — he can build upon it.
Marc Cucurella
When Thomas Tuchel announced the signing of Marc Cucurella, he said the 24-year-old is ‘the new Azpilicueta’. Cucu is indeed extremely versatile, having played at various positions throughout his career, including right-back.
