The Kenyan government announced today, April 12, 2024, through the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), the deliberate implementation of new rules aimed at simplifying the road transportation industry.
The Kenyan Government has declared a fine of Ksh400,000 to all Kenyans driving a vehicle with a gross weight of 3,500 Kilograms who evade or simply avoids a weighing station, in a set of new regulations dubbed KENHA Draft Regulations 2023.
The Kenyan Government has further intimated that those Kenyans driving the stated cohort of motor vehicles who evade weighing stations will also be liable to an imprisonment of two years upon conviction.
The Kenyan government has also revealed that any Kenyan national found driving an overloaded vehicle will either have to pay a fine of Ksh400,000 or spend two years in prison.
