This season for Chelsea, Mason Mount has been a shadow of his former self. The 2 time Chelsea player of the year has been very poor and his performance today against Southampton was no different. He plays like someone who is out of ideas and basically just patrols the pitch all game long.
2. Kai Havertz.
Kai Havertz’s performance for Chelsea right now continues to bother Chelsea fans. The German international has gone 5 games without a goal or an assist. Despite this poor stat, he continues to lead the line for the blues. It’s even worse when you recall that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel rejected Cristiano Ronaldo just to stick with him.
3. Cesar Azpilicueta.
Azpilicueta’s decline reminds us of that of Ivanovich a few years ago for Chelsea. The Spanish international gave away the ball for the Southampton corner which led to the second goal. He did not look comfortable in the game and was targeted by Southampton attackers.
Best Players.
1. C. Adams.
Good display from the Southampton players he caused Chelsea’s defence lots of problems.
2. A. Bella-Kochap.
Another Southampton player who did very well today, deserves the man of the match award.
3. A. Armstrong.
He scored the winning goal for Southampton in the first half of the game. A very good finish past Mendy in the Chelsea goal.
