The economic ‘levers’ have been approved and Barça will begin their summer transfer window to reinforce their squad.

The Culés will try to make official those deals that they had already ‘tied’ and for which they asked for patience to launch offers that they could fulfil. They will also work on negotiations for certain signings who have been linked with the Barça shirt for some time.

Everything will start next week. FC Barcelona are still waiting for the sale of Frenkie de Jong, but they already know how much capital they have available to invest.

The priority is to free up wage bill with ‘Operation Exit’ and annul the 1/3 rule, so the sporting management hopes to apply reductions and get rid of at least 10 players who will no longer be indispensable for Xavi Hernandez in his sporting project.

The first additions to be made official will be those of Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessié. Both have been completely closed for months and their official announcement could happen in a matter of days.

Their contracts will have a maximum duration of four seasons and they will arrive at the Camp Nou with their freedom under their arms, which sums up to two moves made by Mateu Alemany.

After that, the aim is to reinforce the forward and defensive line, with Robert Lewandowski the main target. The Pole has publicly stated his desire to leave Bayern Munich this summer for Barcelona after eight years with the Bavarians.

Negotiations are underway and Barcelona will send a new offer to the German offices in order to bring his transfer to a successful conclusion. Joan Laporta has made it clear to his agent, Pini Zahavi, that they will not leave them stranded and that they will make the necessary effort for the ‘9’ to ‘change airs’.

Chelsea’s futures

Finally, the other two cases that the club hopes to resolve before July are those of César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. Both full-backs are out of contract in 2023 and their departure was expected to be much simpler, but Chelsea’s new owners are not making things easy, especially with ‘Azpi’.

They are confident that everything will go according to plan, although they will have to pay a small transfer fee for both defenders. Xavi sees them as essential pieces for next season, even more so with the departure of Dani Alves and the inclusion of Sergiño Dest in a possible deal for Jules Koundé.
