President William Ruto has appointed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to act as the Cabinet Secretary in all ministries. “That in accordance with Article 152 (5) (b) of Constitution, the Cabinet Secretaries listed below have to be dismissed from office as stated,” the notice reads

“That pursuant to Article 152 (5) (a) of the Constitution, Hon. Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, E.G.H., is assigned as the Acting Cabinet Secretary in all vacant ministerial portfolios,” the gazette notice reads.

Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS for Foreign Affairs was the only CS who survived the axe by the head of state. Meanwhile, Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga warned the president ahead of the reconstitution of the Cabinet.

On Tuesday, July 16, the Nyeri governor asked Ruto to reserve eight Cabinet secretary positions for the Mt Kenya region.

According to Kahiga, the recently sacked CSs from the area held the position courtesy of the more than 3 million votes the Mt Kenya region gave the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Kahiga, a close ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, cautioned the president against shortchanging the Mt Kenya region.
