Earlier, we mentioned that the Glazer family is looking into selling Man United as they “explore strategic alternatives”.

In 2005, the Americans paid $1.34 billion, or £790 million, to acquire the Red Devils.

The decision to sell the Old Trafford team follows years of fan outrage over the Glazer family’s ownership of the team.

Ratcliffe, the founder of Ineos, and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, a Qatari banker, were competing to become the new owner of Manchester United.

The Ratcliffe proposal is still in the race, but Ferdinand has now revealed that some Glazer family members are delaying the takeover.

“I think the big issue is when you are dealing with a group of people rather than an individual, it makes things very complex and difficult at times,” Ferdinand said in a statement on his FIVE YouTube show. I believe Jim Ratcliffe stated explicitly that when dealing with the Glazers, you are not dealing with a single person.

“That has been the underlying problem; I didn’t want to say it, but you are dealing with Glazer family siblings who are present to reach a judgement as a group.

“I don’t believe that one individual can just make a decision on their own, thus it is really challenging to say yes right away [clicks fingers]. They must go through a process to do it.
