The reigning Premier League champions have been in a good run of form for the most part of the 2021/2022 season and are currently occupying the first position on the Premier League table.
But then, following reports that experienced defensive midfielder Fernandinho is in line to leave the club when his contract expires in June, Manchester City will need to sign a replacement.
And if reports are anything to go by, then Manchester City have been linked with a move for experienced Leeds United defensive midfielder Kalvin Philips next summer.
The 26-year-old England International, who was promoted to the Leeds United first-team squad back in 2015 has been an important member of the team over the previous seasons.
The experienced defensive midfielder was heavily involved for Leeds United during the 2020/2021 season where he scored one goal and created three assists in 31 appearances in all competitions.
Kalvin Philips has also been quite influential for Leeds United so far this ongoing 2021/2022 season, scoring one goal and recording one assist in the 22 matches he has played.
His impressive performances in midfield is believed to have caught the attention of Manchester City and according to reports from Daily Mail, the Premier League side want to sign him.
The reports further claimed that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to sign Kalvin Philips as an ideal replacement for the outgoing Fernandinho when the transfer window opens.
But then, it remains to be seen if Leeds United football club will be interested in listening to transfer offers for the experienced defensive midfielder when the window opens.
