The club’s managing director, Dan Ashworth, recently traveled to Milan to initiate discussions with AC Milan, resulting in a successful deal for 23-year-old defensive midfielder Sandro Tonali.

While the primary focus was on the midfield, Ashworth also aimed to hold talks with Inter Milan regarding the acquisition of Federico Dimarco, further fortifying the defensive line.

Newcastle United’s quest to enhance their squad includes the pursuit of a left-sided full-back, with both Dimarco and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez on their radar. Hernandez, a 25-year-old French international, is widely regarded as one of the best in his position globally, making him an enticing prospect for the Magpies.

Despite a slightly below-par performance in the 2022/23 season, Hernandez still made significant contributions, being involved in nine goals over 45 appearances.

Eddie Howe believes that the addition of the French full-back could propel the team forward, enabling them to compete in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

However, Newcastle United is well aware of the challenges they may face in luring Hernandez away from Milan, given his importance to the Italian club.

The presence of Atletico Madrid, Hernandez’s former team, as potential competitors for his signature adds further complexity to the pursuit.

Having risen through the ranks at Atletico, Hernandez may prioritize a return to his former club over joining Newcastle United, provided Milan is willing to part ways with him. Consequently, it remains to be seen if the Magpies can secure yet another remarkable transfer coup in their pursuit of Theo Hernandez.
