Kalidou Koulibaly has already joined from Napoli this summer, while Raheem Sterling swapped Premier League rivals Manchester City for the Blues.

And Chelsea are still locked in negotiations for their third signing of the summer after Kounde travelled with Sevilla’s pre-season squad to Portugal despite originally being left out.

There was a report yesterday that Kounde is holding out for a move to Barcelona despite Chelsea reaching an agreement with Sevilla over a transfer.

It had appeared that Chelsea were closing in on a deal but Barcelona now feel they have time on their side as they prepare to make an official offer to Sevilla for the France international.

And the Daily Telegraph claims that Tuchel could also be ‘stuck with a number of unwanted players as Chelsea struggle to attract bids for any of their flops’.

Tuchel is ready to ‘listen to bids for’ Michy Batshuayi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Hakim Ziyech, Kenedy and Timo Werner this summer but the ‘only firm offers Chelsea have so far received for players have been for young stars such as Armando Broja, from West Ham United, and Levi Colwill’.

Werner has had a difficult time at Chelsea so far since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2020 with the Germany international scoring just ten Premier League goals in 56 appearances.

And Werner, who was in and out the team last season, has now claimed that he needs to be playing more regularly for Chelsea if he wants to get into the Germany World Cup squad.

“First of all, the most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals,” Werner said.

“That’s the fact. That’s what I should take care of and the other things will come. I could be happy everywhere.

“I think of course the manager always has different ideas, different thoughts and what you need in different games, I think in many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that.

“It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup.

“I think it doesn’t change anything whether it is a winter world cup or in the summer. I think if I play half or the season or the whole season, I should play.”

But Tuchel was “surprised” by Werner’s recent comments, he said: “I’m surprised, I would be very happy as a young guy having a contract at Chelsea football club. I would be one of the happiest people on the planet.

“He needs to get his game time. He has to show quality, take your place and defend your place.

“I would be one of the happiest people on the planet having a contract with Chelsea. If he said this, I do not understand.”
