As part of the club’s initiative to foster the development of young players, Barcelona is, on the other hand, searching the footballing landscapes of Spain and Europe in search of undiscovered gems.

Barcelona have notably brought in Emre Demir and Pablo Torre ahead of the new season, with Xavi especially having high hopes from the latter.

Alvaro Nunez, a defensive prospect who is 21 years old and who was plying his trade for Athletic Club’s reserve team up until the end of this past season, seems to have been successfully captured by the club in yet another of these stunning acquisitions.

Inaki Arechabaleta, the pre-candidate for the president of the Athletic Club subsidiary, verified the news of the capture in an interview, which was disclosed by Diario SPORT. The conversation was conducted by Diario SPORT.

Nunez, who was born and raised in Bilbao, had been a member of the club’s development program from an early age up to the time when he fulfilled the terms of his contract at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season. The young player, who had been a free agent until recently, has been signed by Barcelona.

The Barcelona B team will be incorporating Nunez into their roster soon. As a right back by trade, he will have to compete for a starting position in the reserve team, which will once again be headed by Sergi Barjuan despite the recent months of doubt around his future. However, he will have to do so despite the fact that his future was unknown.

Recent events have brought widespread attention to the difficulties that Barcelona is having at the right-back position, particularly in light of the fact that the club is widely anticipated to sell Sergino Dest this coming summer.Dani Alves is not anticipated to play beyond the end of 2022 either, while prospective new addition Cesar Azpilicueta is already in the twilight of his career, thus creating the door for Nunez to make a breakthrough to the senior side.

Nunez has a long way to go before he can establish himself as a first-team option for FC Barcelona in the near future due to the fact that he has no previous experience playing football in a top-flight league.
