In a video, the man claimed that for many years, his pastor had used Matthew 6:19–21 to persuade him to send money to the church.

According to the verse, “Avoid storing anything for yourself under the dirt because rust and moths can ruin them and robbers can break in and take them.”

“However, store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither rust nor moth can ruin since thieves cannot enter and steal there.”

because “your heart will be where your treasure is.”

He went on to add that after becoming brainwashed by these ideas, he committed a lot of money to the religion.

He claims that the banks and the Nigerian government let him down, and now that times are hard, he wants to cash in on his investment in the church.

The “Kingdom Investment” brochure, which acts as proof of the years’ worth of tithing contributions, was then shown to him.

He additionally presented a sticker from his house attesting to his 2013 church membership.

He went on to remark that although he could forego the offering and any additional gifts given to the church, he wanted to pay the tithe that he could show.
