Thus, some players have been nominated for the award this season, and they are six in total, from different clubs. The six players are majorly from Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Hence, we will be looking at the 6 nominees for the award and the respective records created in the English Premier League this season.
Below are the six (6) nominees for the award, and their respective records for this season:
1. Mohamed Salah
So far this season, he played 35 games for Liverpool (across different competitions, including the Premier League). Out of the 35 games played, he scored 23 goals and created 13 assists. This means that he recorded 36 goal contributions in 35 games.
2. Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo played 30 games for Manchester United this season and scored 18 goals in all the 30 games played. On the other hand, he was able to create only 3 assists. Thus, he recorded 21 goal contributions in 30 games.
3. Virgil Van Dijk
The Liverpool defender is rated as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, considering his contribution to his club, especially this season. Van Dijk played 34 games, recorded 21 clean sheets, and conceded 21 goals.
4. Kevin De Bruyne
The Manchester City midfielder has played 30 games for the club this season, and in the 30 games played, he has scored 15 goals. Also, he was able to create 8 assists, making him record 23 goal contributions in 30 games.
5. Sadio Mane
In the Premier League this season, Mane played 34 games for Liverpool and scored 16 goals in total. Also, he created 2 assists, thus, he recorded 18 goal contributions in 34 games.
6. Harry Kane
Kane is a key player in Tottenham Hotspur, and he has made a lot of contributions to the team’s victory this season, sending the team to next season’s Champions League competition. He played 37 games this season and scored 17 goals. He created 9 assists, thereby, recording 26 goal contributions in 37 games.
So, these are the 6 players nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for the 2021/22 football season. However, from the statistics seen above, Salah has the best record and has the highest chance of winning the award.
