Manchester United and England forward Marcus Rashford has the opportunity to become the first man in the club’s history to score in 10 consecutive home games, equalling legendary United goalscorer Dennis Viollet’s long-standing record of scoring in nine successive home matches this season.

Viollet scored 179 goals in 293 games between 1952 and 1962, setting his record in the opening few months of the 1959/60 season. Rashford stands on the brink of history, needing just one more goal at Old Trafford to enter uncharted territory.

Teddy Sheringham did score nine goals in a row once before, in the 2000–01 season, although he was absent for a home game against Leeds United during that stretch.

Rashford will become the club’s record-holder if he performs well against Reading. United has set its sights on four trophies this year, including the FA Cup. As a result, they should be able to easily defeat Reading and maintain their chances of winning all four.
