The game started strongly for Tottenham as Dutch defender Mickey van de Ven headed over the bar. However, Fulham, who had underperformed in the recent London derby, showed their will when João Palhinha pulled off a wonderful save from Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Fulham’s solid defense led by Calvin Bassey, kept Tottenham at bay, but a well-executed counter-attack saw Heung-Min Son find the back of the net before the break.
A surprise goal from the Korean national team put Tottenham ahead and James Madison scored the winning goal in the 54th minute of the first half.
The win took Tottenham to 23 points from their first nine Premier League games under Ange Postecoglu and set a new record for the best start by a new manager in the history of the competition.
Spurs are now two points clear at the top of the Premier League and their strong performance has established them as one of the main title contenders.
