What Are The Reasons Why This Happens?

1. Diabetes Mellitus – people suffering from diabetes often deal with nerve damage otherwise referred to as diabetic neuropathy.

It happens due to excess sugar in the blood stream that ends up hurting the nerves in the hands and legs.

Even though it’s one of the factors everyone should know about, in most cases, waking up with numb hands is not usually due to diabetes.

2. Sleeping Posture – this is a more common reason why some people wake up feeling numb in the hands.

It happens because when we sleep sometimes, we end up putting pressure on our hands.

People Who often wake up with numb hands either slept on their arms or a nerve in the hand, which ends up causing tingling feeling and numbness in most cases.

This often resolves after some minutes and it’s not something to be worried about.

3. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – this happens due to compression on the median nerve in the carpal tunnel; a narrow passageway on the front of the wrist.

Tingling and feeling of Numbness are the most common symptoms that often accompany this compression and it is one of the causes of morning numbness.

Other unlikely causes include; peripheral neuropathy and some other disorders that pertain the nerves in a person’s hands.
