Manuel Pellegrini has referred this Wednesday to the imminent departure of Alex Moreno to Aston Villa. The Real Betis coach, in the press conference prior to the Super Cup clash against FC Barcelona, has fit with good mood his sale in the middle of the season because he knows the financial situation of the club and the need to sell to balance the accounts.

“Of course it is an important loss, I think Alex is in a great moment, he is a player who brought us a lot both in the defensive and in the offensive.

I also said it at the beginning of the season, that to the extent that it is a sale that can really solve the economic problems of the club, most likely it will have to be done.

If it is to get a salary out of the way and there is not much money coming in, it would not seem right to me. But it seems to me that in this case it is a sale that will be useful for the club. And we have to find a way to replace him, which won’t be easy”.

The Real Betis coach was also asked about the possibility of more departures, since names like Borja Iglesias or Guido Rodríguez are on the market, and his opinion was the same as in the case of Álex Moreno: “Well, I have the same attitude or opinion that I expressed at the beginning: if it is an important sale that can solve the club’s economic problems, it will always have to be sold for a reality.

I don’t want anyone to be sold, but on the other hand we don’t know what offers may arrive… From the club’s point of view there is no intention of buying anyone because I believe that the squad has fully responded.

They are in charge of getting this second part of the season off to a good start, just as we did in the first, where we qualified first in the Europa League, we moved forward in the Copa del Rey and we want to do well in La Liga,” said Pellegrini in Riyadh.
