According to The Cable, Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, had approached the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to obtain relevant documents containing Tinubu’s academic information. Tinubu had claimed to have attended Chicago State University (CSU).
Abubakar argued that his request for Tinubu’s academic records would bolster his legal challenge to his election victory. A U.S. magistrate judge named Jeffrey Gilbert approved the request and ordered CSU to release his academic records.
Nonetheless, the president appealed against this decision. Meanwhile, Atiku also filed an appeal, urging the U.S. court to overturn Tinubu’s objections to releasing his academic records.
In a statement released on Friday, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP spokesperson, asserted that Tinubu’s efforts to prevent the release of his academic records are a disservice to Nigerians.
The opposition party insists that the All Progressives Congress must transparently address the urgency of concealing specific crucial details about Tinubu’s CSU academic records from the public.
The PDP also stated that it noted that the lawyers’ application urging the U.S. District Court of Illinois not to disclose his academic details contradicts President Tinubu’s public claims of having impeccable academic records.
The PDP further recalls that during a public event, he openly declared to Nigerians that he was one of the most sought-after graduates of his university, with multiple honors and a first-class degree, and that he served as a reference point.
In light of the above statement, the PDP maintains that the lawyers’ plea to withhold details of his academic record from public scrutiny greatly undermines him personally and Nigeria as a whole.
The PDP also censures the APC for purportedly remaining silent regarding the fire outbreak at the Supreme Court, alleging that it was a deliberate attempt to obstruct electoral cases at the highest court….CONTINUE READING
