The Committee Chairperson Julius Melly said that their salary increase had been effected and medical cover restored, with funds being set aside for the confirmation of the 46,000 intern teachers.

Speaking in his Tinderet constituency recently, he said that as an advocate for teachers’ rights, he had been at the forefront in pushing for the fulfillment of their demands.

He then challenged teachers to serve diligently in order to recover lost time, adding that the needs of learners should be prioritized.

“As a defender of teachers and learners’ rights, I will ensure all their demands are met. We know a lot of time has been lost, therefore I would like to ask teachers to serve diligently in order to recover the time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Aldai MP Maryanne Keitany assured teachers that better days were ahead for them.

Keitany also expressed joy over the stellar performance by candidates from the area in last year’s national exams, adding that prayers and motivation talks for form 4 candidates from across the constituency will be held this Friday.
