He has become her full-time carer rather than her husband and revealed he feels as if their marriage has become “platonic” since the accident. He added that they haven’t been intimate since – but doesn’t know how to leave her.

“Needless to say it’s been a rough few years for all of us, especially for her, but she’s been pretty positive about her future and her ‘new normal’ as she calls it. But while all of that has been going on, our relationship has completely changed.

I went from concerned husband to full-time carer and now it feels almost like we’re just roommates?,” he shared in an anonymous letter to The Mail’s Dear Jane.

Because of the injuries, it means his wife still struggles to sleep and has her room downstairs now while he is in their bedroom upstairs, and claimed she goes to bed “an hour or so” after he gets home from his office job as she’s “exhausted”.

He further shared: “We haven’t had sex since the accident happened three years ago and I can’t even remember the last time we kissed properly.

I haven’t even had the chance to think about what it would be like having sex with her since her surgery because she doesn’t seem to have any interest in that anymore,” and claimed it feels as if the “passion” died the moment the accident happened and brutally revealed that saying I love you feels like “part of the routine now rather than being filled with any meaning.”

Although he assures he loves his wife, he can’t help but think they’d both be happier if they ended their marriage and added there is no “bitterness” from him, but said he doesn’t want to “spend the rest of my life tied up in a platonic relationship that has no fire or excitement” and thinks she would be happier if he walked away.

The response from best-selling author Jane Green assured the man he wasn’t a bad person for feeling this way, but he would be bad if he divorced her without sitting down and speaking to her about it.
