Members of the Eastern Security Network claim that they are protecting Igboland, yet they have used forests in some Southeastern States as their hideouts, engaging the military men in gun battles. It was recently reported that the Leader of ESN in Enugu State was arrested by military troops after a gun battle with the leader and his men.
There is Amotekun in Southwest which is a security outfit protecting Yorubaland by reducing insecurity in the Southwest region; the men of this security outfit are not found inside a forest, instead they patrol round the State to identify criminal elements and deal with them. They also work in conjunction with security operatives and it has never been recorded that Amotekun wrestled with security operatives in a gun battle.
A security network that claims to be protecting a certain region cannot use the forest as their hideout as this place (the forest) is where terrorists like Boko Haram, ISWAP and bandits are mostly found. Hiding under the disguise of protecting Igboland while engaging military men in a gun battle maybe considered as an act of deceit and I personally appreciate the Nigerian Military for constantly crumbling their plans.
I leave my readers with this question: If the aim of ESN is to protect Southeast region, why are they fighting security operatives?
