Following Robert Lewandowski’s arrival, Barcelona is now the first club across Europe’s top five leagues to have the holders of The Best FIFA Men’s Player and The Best FIFA Women’s Player awards at the same time.

The Barcelona and Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas won The Best FIFA Women’s Player award for 2022, marking her third individual award in the last six months. She also won the Ballon d’Or Feminin in November 2021 and was named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year back in August.

Lewandowski failed to win the 2021 Ballon d’Or award but was crowned the best player in the men’s game for the second time in a row.

Lewandowski won the FIFA Club World Cup with the German giants, Bayern Munich early in 2021, followed by another Bundesliga title. He was also pivotal in his country’s World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring eight goals in as many games.
