As the dust begins to settle on Real Madrid’s celebration party, the Champions League’s Technical Observer panel has announced the winners of some of the individual awards on offer for the 2021/22 season.

At the time of writing, the Champions League has confirmed the winners of the Player of the Season award, the Young Player of the Season award, the Highest Goalscorer award, and the Best Playmaker award.

Champions League Player of the Season Award Winner

Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema won the Player of the Season award for last season’s Champions League campaign after an inspiring campaign for Real Madrid. He led the Madrid side to La Liga’s triumph and capped it off with the club’s 14th Champions League title.

15 of his goals throughout the season came in the Champions League and most of them came at very crucial moments. Karim Benzema scored back-to-back hat-tricks against Paris Saint-Germain in a 3-2 comeback win and the first leg tie against Chelsea.

Young Player of the Season Award Winner

Vinicius Junior was, without doubt, the best young player in the Champions League last season and he wrote his name in history by scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final.

In the Champions League last season, he scored four goals and provided six assists as he led his side to the UEFA Champions League title.

Highest Goalscorer Award Winner

This award was won by Real Madrid star, Karim Benzema after he finished the season with 15 goals, two goals behind the record for the highest number of goals ever scored in a single Champions League season.

Best Playmaker Award Winner

Manchester United star, Bruno Fernandes won the Best Playmaker award after he finished the season as the player with the most assists in the Champions League.

Bruno Fernandes provided seven assists before Manchester United was eliminated in the round of 16 and he maintained the top spot till the end of the season.
