The development finally puts an end to the saga which had surrounded the 23-year old French superstar, who at some point seemed destined to join his boyhood club Real Madrid and follow in the footsteps of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking on his decision to sign a new contract, Mbappe said:

“I always said that Paris is my home. I want to win titles here and have fun together as always. Thank you.”

While the details of the new contract are yet to be made public, it is rumoured that Mbappe will be rewarded with a €300million sign on bonus, as well as nearly €1million per week in wages. It is also rumoured that he will play a key role in administrative aspects, such as appointment of a new coach or sporting director, and scouting of players.

The deal comes as a blow to Real Madrid, who had been courting Mbappe for years now, and seemed destined to have finally gotten their heir to Ronaldo.

Apparently the La Liga are also unhappy about the deal, with president Javier Tebas coming out to condenm PSG, describing them as being as dangerous as the Super League. It is understood that the La Liga have gone to the extent of reporting PSG to UEFA over financial fair play rules.
