Chelsea was not left out of the signings as they brought in a number of players into the squad.
A look at these signings show that they focused a lot on defenders as they brought in players like Cucurella, Koulibaly and Fofana.
This can be understood as a clear move by Tuchel to tighten his defence and limit the number of goals they concede in matches.
When we looked at the number of goals Chelsea have already conceded this season, it did not speak well of their new signings.
Chelsea currently has a goal conceding average of 1.5. They have conceded a total of 9 goals so far In the EPL. They have only one clean sheet which was their First Match of the season against Everton.
This is a bad tally for a team which brought in new defenders into the team during the recently concluded Transfer window.
A look at their first four matches of last season shows that Chelsea conceded just 1 goal even though they faced teams like Liverpool.
Adding new defenders should add to the efficacy of their defence and not impede it. Tuchel should look into this and find a solution to their defensive issues.
