Benzema and Ronaldo joined Real in the same summer transfer window back in 2009. Ronaldo left the Bernabeu in 2018 to move to Juventus before rejoining Manchester United last year.
Karim Benzema became Real Madrid’s second-highest goalscorer with 324 goals as his strike helped secure a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Uefa Super Cup final. Real equalled a record in Helsinki, winning the trophy for the fifth time to join Milan and Barcelona with the highest total.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who beat Liverpool to win the Champions League in May, took the lead when David Alaba tapped into an empty net. Benzema doubled the Spanish giants’ lead after the break to move second on Real’s all-time goalscoring list, overtaking Raul and behind only Cristiano Ronaldo who has 450 goals.
Although Benzema has now cemented his status as a Real legend, he still has a long way to go to eclipse Ronaldo’s record of 450 goals. The Frenchman needs to score a total of 127 goals for Real Madrid to break Ronaldo’s record.
