The suspect is a resident of Kakamega Town, but was arrested in Bungoma while in possession of a five-year-old boy, whom she allegedly intended to sell for sum of Sh15 million.

The arrest of Nanyama has shocked the community, as child trafficking is considered an abhorrent crime.

The suspect is held at the Bungoma Police Station, awaiting further interrogation by the dedicated detectives responsible for investigating such cases.

Nanyama’s arrest comes on the heels of an alarming dissapearance of a child in the region.

An eight-year-old girl named Linda Pendo of Kanduyi Deb primary school went missing on the morning of April 1, 2024, leaving the community on high alert and deeply concerned for the safety and welfare of their children.

Bungoma Police Commander Francis Kooli pleaded with parents to exercise utmost vigilance and remain attentive to their children’s well-being.

Commander Kooli emphasized the importance of safeguarding children from potential dangers and urged parents to take extra precautions during this period.
