With the season finalized, popular football media outlet Goal.com released their team of the season that consisted of the best performers in each playing position this season.

After a close look at the players who made the cut, I quite agree with Goal on this one. Every player merited the place they got, the selection was unbiased and fair.

Standing in between the sticks in goal is Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. The Three Lions of England goalkeeper played a huge role in Arsenal’s campaign, he proved his doubters wrong ensuring that the £24 million paid for his services wasn’t a waste.

His heroic saves and timely reflexes comes to mind when you think of the goalkeeper. It takes quite a lot for a new goalkeeper to displace the already existing goalkeeper. But Aaron Ramsdale did this with fans and the manager standing solidly behind him.

In the defence line, four defender’s were named to man the lines. Two defender’s each from the top two sides, Liverpool and Manchester City.

On the right is none other than Alexander-Arnold, the 23-year old helped his team in both capacities; defence wise he was a force to contend with and in the attacking front he made crucial and timely passes which resulted in goals.

The Captain of the Red side, Virgil van Dijk made the list as one of the centre-back. Although the talismanic defender didn’t perform at his best this season, he remains one of the best defender in the league. His leadership skills and ability to control the game from anywhere on the field earned him a spot.

Ruben Dias was the best player of the previous season, and he hasn’t drifted from his brilliant form and performance. His presence in Manchester City’s defence is a boost for Pep who knows the capabilities of the player.

Another man just like Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold who does his job well and is never caught napping is Joao Cancelo, they both are power horses who travel up and down the flanks without getting tired. He leads the clubs tackling front with 2.3 tackles per game.

Sitting in the midfield is Rodri, the player doesn’t stand out on any statistical metric in the attacking or defensive end. His key passes and ability to connect the players at the back and front makes him a key player for Pep.

Declan Rice is the only West Ham player to make the cut, his ability to make progressive distance with the ball is a quite unique ability. The 23-year olds is a complete midfielder with all the qualities required of one.

The list would be incomplete with out Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian continues to make his mark in the EPL season after season. His ability to score goals and create goal chances which lead to assists puts him above a large number of players.

Mohamed Salah had his most prolific campaign in the EPL this season. Clinching the golden boot for 23 goals and also the the most assists of the season having featured in just 30 EPL games, it is pure class.

Tottenham Hotspur’s main man, Harry Kane chairs the attacking front. The lethal striker is partnered with his teammate Son Heung-Min who make an outstanding duo.
