Natembeya stated that President William Ruto will still go to the Azimio leader Raila Odinga to convince the community on certain political agenda.
He further mentioned that he would individually fight for the community’s unity claiming that leadership harmony revolves around selfish interests.
Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya has claimed that Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has experienced a decline in popularity in his home region.
The governor, known for his candid remarks, described Mudavadi’s influence in Western Kenya as nominal, terming his position as ‘tokenism’.
Natembeya emphasised that Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio alliance, still holds sway over the community in comparison to Mudavadi and other former influential figures, asserting that President William Ruto will still have to go through the former to convince the Mulembe community on certain political matters.
He, speaking during an interview at Spice FM, highlighted that key leaders from the Western region were elected under the ODM banner, indicating Odinga’s enduring influence.
Furthermore, the governor suggested that if the president were to remove Mudavadi from his position, it wouldn’t greatly affect the people, as Mudavadi’s support base had diminished.
He also noted that the former vice president wouldn’t have many Members of Parliament to carry with him from the Kenya Kwanza government, as most are aligned with the Azimio coalition.
Natembeya stated that leaders unite based on their shared selfish interests rather than the transformational agenda that their electorates anticipate.
