Liverpool made the second biggest profit in the history of football when they sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in the 2017/18 season. After purchasing the Brazilian star for just €13 million from Inter Milan five seasons earlier, the English Premier League side sold the Brazilian attacker to Barcelona in a deal worth €135 million. This meant that Liverpool earned a profit of €122 million from his sale.
The third transfer deal that has generated the most amount of profit for the seller is the transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United. After the Frenchman joined the Italian Serie A as a free agent in the 2012/13 season, he made a name for himself, becoming one of the best midfielders in the world.

The fourth biggest transfer profit in history is the recent transfer of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid. After Borussia Dortmund signed the Englishman for €30.2 million from Birmingham, he was sold to Real Madrid for €133.9 million, including add-ons. This means that Borussia Dortmund made a profit of €103 million from his sale.
