The Magpies entered the top-of-the-table clash against Brighton on Thursday off the back of their disappointing 2-2 draw against Leeds United in their previous Premier League outing, and they were looking for a victory over Brighton to revive their top-four finish ambition.

The Eddie Howe-led team started the game well as they registered the first goal of the game thanks to an own goal from Deniz Undav, who sends the ball into his net to give the host their well-deserved lead in the 22nd minute before Dan Burn doubled the advantage on the stroke of the half time of the game.
