Throughout his stint inside, she became a devoted prison wife two and a half months after they tied the knot, and forked out £62k ($80k) on the visits, gifts and food.

Zyion is currently serving the last six months of his sentence out of incarceration, but during the end of his time in jail, Arrogrance was able to have overnight stays for £4 ($5) per day – which is when they conceived their first child together.

“I couldn’t believe that my best friend was being taken from me just after we got married,” she says. “It’s hard being a prison wife but I turned the pain into motivation.

“I never missed a visit and I spent £62k on it all. From travel to new televisions for me, sending him two to three packages a month, clothes, food, and phones.”

Arrogrance and Zyion got together six years ago after spotting each other at a BBQ, and have been married for almost five years.

However, two months after they tied the knot, Zion was arrested and sent to prison for five years – but he has been able to serve the final year outside of jail.

Arrogrance recalls that her new husband’s sentence took her breath away and she couldn’t believe that her new husband was being taken away from her.

She says that Zyion gave her the option to walk away from the relationship but she told him that they were in it together and it didn’t matter how much time he got, she was going to be right there with him.

The beginning of his sentence was particularly difficult for the couple as it was during covid, meaning that Arrogrance couldn’t visit for two years.

They were only able to do video calls before they were eventually allowed to do face-to-face visits through a pane of glass. Arrogrance says that not having him around day-to-day and becoming a prison wife was hard for her, but she had to turn her pain into motivation to get through the years.

She tried to keep herself as busy as possible in a bid to make time go quicker. She never missed a visit with her husband and went to the prison weekly to see him and after some time she was allowed an overnight visit where she could stay for 48 hours every 30 days.

Arrogrance explains that the couple made the best out of the situation and embraced the struggle. She would take steak and lobster to prison for the overnight visits to cook for her husband.

In total, she says that she has spent £62k ($80k) throughout her time as a prison wife. She’s forked out on travel, new televisions for Zyion, two typewriters as he has been writing books in prison, ink, sending him two a month and weekly commissary, as well as phone calls which cost £481 ($600) per month.

Arrogrance also spent between £240 – £320 ($300 – $400) a month on the extravagant food that she would take to cook and always treated herself to a new outfit whenever she went to see him and had to buy new toiletries as they had to be sealed.

She also regularly bought Zyion new outfits and shoes. He has been serving the last year of his sentence outside of prison for the last six months.

On her last overnight visit to Zyion in August 2023, the couple conceived their first baby together and they couldn’t be more excited to welcome him.

“There were lots of times when I felt discouraged while Zyion was in prison, but I just had to stay strong,” Arrogrance says.

“It was awful when I couldn’t visit him at all because of the pandemic. “When we were able to do the overnight visits, that cost me £4 ($5) a day, we just tried to have fun.

“I’d take amazing food and we’d make seafood boils, steaks and lobster. It was top-of-the-line food. “I am so relieved we are coming to the end of our journey of his time in prison and that his program is almost over.

“We are coming to the end of his sentence and then we can move on as a family with our new baby boy. He will be our first child together and we are so excited for the next chapter..<<CONTINUE READING>>
